Reed Cutting at Aylestone Park

Reed cutting on restored canal channel – Aylestone Park Hereford

Following reed clearance work at Over Basin and Vineyard Hill two reed cutting boats hired by the Trust have been moved to Hereford to carry out similar work on the section of restored canal passing alongside the park.

The boats were launched onto the canal from the slipway constructed by Trust volunteers several years ago, and have large rotating paddles to propel them through the water.

One boat is fitted with a hydraulic boom and a cutting implement, whilst the second has a boom equipped with a large rake or picker.
