The Trust has been
restoring sections of the canal for nearly 20 years. The earliest progress was made in
Herefordshire at Monkhide and later at Yarkhill. The most impressive restored feature is
the Skew Bridge at Monkhide.
Work in Gloucestershire began at Oxenhall where the canal has been restored between
Oxenhall Tunnel and Lock Cottage. Work continues here every week, restoring House Lock. |
The last five years have seen the restoration of Over Basin, just west of Gloucester. This
was officially opened in September 2000 and work continues on the next phase of this major
project.
The re-development of the School of Farriery site in Hereford
and, more recently, the start of work at Aylestone
Park, have seen restoration progress in Hereford city.
