For 18 years the Trust has been restoring this historic canal, most recently at Over just west of Gloucester, so that about four miles of the original 34 are now back "in water". Our ultimate aim is to recreate the canal between the two cities, providing new opportunities for walkers, cyclists, boaters and all lovers of the countryside, as well as boosting tourist income along the route.

Over the next few years we have very ambitious plans for restoration which will require money as well as volunteers’ time. Currently we are dependent on income from Trust membership and donations and from fundraising events.

For the equivalent of half a pint of beer a week or a Sunday paper, you could help progress projects such as:

button.gif (902 bytes) Completing the restoration of House Lock
   at Oxenhall

button.gif (902 bytes) Purchasing land to enable further restoration.
How it works:

button.gif (902 bytes) Contributors pay a minimum of £3 per month by Standing Order

button.gif (902 bytes) Gift Aid can enhance this at no extra cost to the contributor - if you pay tax

button.gif (902 bytes) Annually we will report how the money has been spent and invite contributors to an exclusive social event for a talk/tour and buffet meal at one of the Trust’s sites.

In May 2002, Restoration Fund members were treated to a splendid Barbeque at Over. They were shown the work on the water supply channel which has been funded by their contributions.
