| Published to coincide with the opening
of Over Basin, "Over& Over Again!" tells the story of the building of the
Gloucester end of the canal in the 1790s and its recent restoration. We are fortunate that the original Minute Books kept by the Canal Company have been preserved. Nigel Bailey, with help from Roy Jamieson, has used them to present a fascinating portrait of the creation of the H&G in its first few years. Packed with illustrations, this book makes a fascinating read. You'll find out about the vineyard that occupied the Over site from Roman times, the Abbot's Residence that stood at the top of the hill and the corn mill that operated for some 750 years. All profits from the book are being donated to the Trust. |
