Yarkhill Open Day 2010
Yarkhill Open
Day 2010

Yarkhill Open Day - Sunday, 15 August 2010

Having spent several weeks preparing the canal site the Yarkhill Team were again out in force putting the final touches early on the Sunday morning.

The sun was also out so therefore were our visitors. We had an encouraging number of visitors helped by an article in the August issue of Herefordshire Life. Further publicity was provided when Brian Fox was interviewed on Herefordshire and Worcestershire Radio on the Saturday morning and Press, Libraries and TIC’s of Herefordshire coverage in the weeks running up to the event.

Many visitors joined the guided walks down and around the canal and also took the opportunity to visit the Monkhide Stretch and Skew Bridge for which we thank Major Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. Fancourt and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas for their permissions.

The activities at the Village Hall also proved successful. Much interest was shown in the exhibition. The Sales stand, tombola, plant and donated items stall along with the refreshments all did well with proceeds being slightly higher than last year. Our records also show that we signed up at least five new members as a direct result of the Open Day.

Many thanks to all those who supported us and to all the volunteers, nineteen at the last count, from across the Trust who helped make it a successful day.

Thank you.                         Chris High, Yarkhill Team Leader.
