Restoration FUND Members Annual Visit 2009

This year they visited The Wharf House at Over and the lock, weir and cottages at Llanthony to see the ongoing maintenance work.

Make it Happen!

That’s what joining the Trust’s Restoration Fund does. Restoring even a bit of the canal, whether its the canal bed, a culvert, some brickwork or just keeping up to scratch something already restored cost’s money. People who give that bit extra to the Restoration FUND visit a site each year to see for themselves what’s been happening and meet the volunteers who have done the job.

During their visit to Over, the Fund Members heard how The Wharf House has very successfully traded itself out of the near disaster caused by the months of roadworks, and admired progress of the newly fitted bedrooms and toilets upstairs that will soon welcome their first guests to the Bed & Breakfast.

Whilst being shown the tug Alder on the basin, it was possible to appreciate the tenacity of members who secured her for the Trust.

They also got a bite to eat at The Wharf House.
