Mister Maysey

The small trip boat, Mister Maysey, was acquired by the Trust in the 1990’s. It rested in the compound at Oxenhall for some while under the name Ruby II. When she was brought to Over a more appropriate name was sought and Mister Maysey was chosen for it’s historic link to a man who used to work for the original canal company. It appears that he was the man who ‘got things done’. We liked the name.

Mister Maysey, now sporting the H & G colours of yellow and black, was bought to Over for the grand opening of the Basin, in September 2000, by a team of army apprentices and lowered into the water from the Bailey Bridge.

Mister Maysey’s first assignment was to carry Timothy West and Prunella Scales across the water. Since then she has carried many visitors around the Basin and made further appearances in Waterworld.

She is at present going through a major overhaul and hopes, with her new engine and fresh paint, to be carrying further passengers soon.
