Restoration

This seemed to work and following a lot of paperwork and reports, in June of 2007 BW awarded a lease on Alder to the Trust. The lease runs for 5 years and if at the end of that time the tug is restored and in use as per the conditions of the lease, full ownership will pass to the Trust.

Expanding the fleet
Now H&GCT had contact inside BW and were in a position to negotiate for further boats, discussions ensued and it was suggested (by BW) that the tug Renton would be a good choice and that the mud hopper Tow would be useful. Leases were exchanged on these two boats in November 2008.

So, at the moment (early 2009) H&GCT has two tugs; Alder, based at Over Basin and undergoing restoration, Renton, now moored at Gloucester Docks, and the mud hopper Tow, currently at Icknield Port awaiting collection.

The Trust also has a small trip boat, Mister Maysey, moored at Over Basin.
