The lock was constructed from a variety of types of stone and during its working life it was repaired with a range of different bricks

An update from September 2000.
More progress on the walls of the lock and the bridge, built with timbers from Over hospital, is now in place

In late 2003, the lock stonework has almost been completed

 

Below the lock, the next section of canal has been cleared and excavated

December 2003, sees the last of the coping stones set in place

 

The lower lock gate quadrant on the towpath side had disappeared completely
