| April. Primary clearance of the towpath has been completed. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Spring has arrived at Yarkhill with Mrs Moorhen on the canal with her 14 dabchicks and our pair of Mallard ducks have built a new nest and are sitting on 7 eggs. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| The first section of canal is tested for leaks. A coffer dam is constructed, sealed and supported by sandbags before allowing water in to hopefully fill the section to the top of the dam. Bernard and Colin built the dam, Steve barrowed the sandbags which were filled by Anne and Eileen. Project designed by Chris. |

|
Coppicing of hawthorn trees along the edge of the towpath bank is progressing well, while Tim has been very busy strimming snowberry bushes on both sides of the canal adjacent to Barr's lock. |
|||||||||||||||||||||
| Chris organised a Canal walk from Withington Marsh to Crew's Pitch for invited guests to celebrate 12 months restoration work at the Yarkhill site, and to view progress. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Matt Skelton kindly provided these photos of the canal adjacent to Ashperton tunnel. Note the rubbish tipped at one of the portals! |
